csrnetwork is market leader in report assurance
27/10/2008
csrnetwork is the clear market leader in the provision of independent report assurance using the AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS), according to new figures from Corporate Register, the online directory of CSR reports.
Over the last five years, csrnetwork has assured 39 reports using AA1000AS. Combined with Sd3, with whom csrnetwork is to merge on 1 January 2009, the two companies have assured 46 reports using AA1000AS - more than twice that of any other provider.
Mark Line, director of csrnetwork, says that the position of both companies demonstrates great depth and global experience in this field. csrnetwork has provided independent assurance using AA1000AS to companies including The Co-operative Group, Holcim, EDF Energy, StoraEnso and Scottish Power, while Sd3 has assured reports for companies including Samsung, Balfour Beatty, Royal & Sun Alliance and Royal Mail Group.
Corporate Register's list of AA1000AS assurance providers is included in an introduction to AA1000AS by AccountAbility (PDF file) - see p28 'Directory of Assurance Providers'.
According to Corporate Register, currently around 2,800 companies worldwide produce an annual sustainability report, with around 25% of these including assurance statements. This figure is steadily increasing year on year, with European-based companies ahead of the market in choosing to have their reports assured.
Mark Line says: "Companies who accept the challenge of producing meaningful reports are attempting to drive real change, both for themselves as well as for society. This responsible behaviour goes beyond the headlines because it demonstrates understanding and action. Going one step further and choosing to assure a report provides the key to securing the trust of stakeholders."
