Balfour Beatty
We helped engineering and construction group Balfour Beatty to develop a group-wide environmental strategy. We carried out a wide range of work for them over a number of years.
This included advising on the integration of sustainable development across the business, developing data collection systems, managing the production of the environmental report and carrying out a benchmarking exercise to compare environmental management systems across operating units.
The environmental benchmarking exercise was extended over a five-year period so that Balfour Beatty could set targets, measure progress and assess the level of performance of new acquisitions in a structured manner. Balfour Beatty report this activity in their annual Safety, Environment and Social Report.
We built a relationship of mutual trust and understanding. This was invaluable in enabling us to help Balfour Beatty tackle some of the challenging sustainable development issues in the construction industry.
