First Group
csrnetwork has provided independent report assurance of the 2002-2006 CSR reports produced by First Group - the UK's largest surface transport company with additional bus services and maintenance operations in North America.
The assurance process is based on the AA1000 Assurance Standard, involving interviews with senior managers to review corporate structure, governance arrangements, CSR strategy and organisation, as well as social, health & safety and environmental management systems. We also interview First Group personnel who have provided data for the report, check the systems for consolidating data at divisional and group level, and visit sites in the UK and USA to check local data generation and performance claims.
Since 2004, we have been working with the internal audit team to develop a self-assessment processes that will formalise First Group's systems to validate CSR data in conjunction with the external assurance process in future years.
